About us
Our Story
It is often said that dreams can become reality if one has the will and ready to work hard. The dream to give proper education and upbringing of children led Smt. Orianda Kharkongor to start a school.
She herself is just literate and what she did not get in her childhood she wanted to give to the less privilege children of rural areas. She along with a few relatives and friends got together to start the venture. They started a society namely Kharkongor Educational Promotional Society on the 7th of April 2015 and registered the same.
The first members were Orianda Kharkongor, Phliat K. Bihkhiew, Shanbor Iawphniaw, Dapaleishisha K Kongor, Rimilda K Kongor, Balasisa Shadap and Jolina Sohtun. The school was started on a property owned by Orianda Kharkongor. The school is residential with day scholars.
The school was given official permission in the year 2021 vide letter no. DESO/RBD/REC/LPUP/441/20/114 dated 26TH April 2021. A recognition code no. DESO/RBD/027 was given. The permission given was to run classes I to VII.
The school has classes from Nursery to VIII. The present number of students is 55 of which 20 are day scholars and 35 are boarders. There is a total teaching staff of 5 and non teaching staff of 2 at present. The school had more than 100 students in previous years but due to paucity of Funds the school couldn’t admit more students.
